SWIMMING
LISTEN TO THE QUIET…..
The peaceful rhythm of swimming can feel – quite meditative for many. Wonderful quiet time away from the office – or if you’d prefer, join our swim squad for a high energy group training session, or power through at your own pace in your own time.
Many opportunities each week to find very few people in the pool. If outside peak times you will often find you will have a lane to yourself. Thursdays, Fridays and weekends are especially quiet.
Maybe Triathlon is your driver? Keep your triathlon swim training going throughout winter in the comfort and protection of ONE FIVE ONE’s superb pool. Squad and professional coach available. In the cooler months, why not finish up with a superb sauna, steam or spa by yourself of with your peers.
All levels of swim ability,
from absolute beginner to
competitive athlete welcome.
Swimming is a great aerobic and total body-strengthening workout. The no-impact nature of swimming will nurture your joints well into old age. Go to a public pool and look at how many elderly continue to swim vs how many aged men and women are still running or cycling.
Workout during your lunch-hour or use it to relax after work, swimming can have a soothing effect on achy joints and muscles. Keep cool in summer while you burn calories, lose weight, and get in shape. Just an all-round top physical activity.

Swimmers gain muscle strength throughout the entire body and utilize more muscle groups to move through the water. While the legs kick, the arms pull. As the back reaches and rotates, the stomach tightens to power the legs and stabilize the core, making swimming one of the best aerobic exercises to give you a total body workout. Swimming requires you to reach, stretch, twist, and pull your way through the water and in addition to the happy hormones, you also can feel a relaxation response similar to yoga. And if you’re feeling a bit shy, the door to the change rooms is directly adjacent to the end of the pool — just pop out the door and down the ladder! Feeling motivated to grab those goggles now? The water’s great — jump on in!
